                 Insert Hyperlink

                1. Once the user has logged into an admin account, he/she will be presented with the following default screen (note: the presence of certain ‘Modules’ may vary depending on company).

                2. To insert a hyperlink into the content area of a preexisting page, first click Content Manager then select List & Edit Pages.

                3. Once clicked, the user will be presented with the list of that site’s webpages.

                4. Find the webpage you intend to edit and click the View/Edit link. You will be presented with a screen something like this:

                  To hyperlink text:

                    • Highlight the text you intend to hyperlink.

                    • With this text highlighted, click the hyperlink button ( ) on the toolbar. The following window will appear:

For our purposes, we will link “your company” to our home page at http://www.cascadewebdev.com/ . This will be accomplished by either pasting this link directly into the top-right field of the Source row or by first selecting http:// from the dropdown menu and then pasting www.cascadewebdev.com/ into the top-right field.

                  • If this link happens to connect to a webpage on your site (rather than a foreign website such as http://www.google.com/ for example), all that is needed in this box is the part of the URL immediately proceeding the http://www.domain.com/. This would likely be in the following format:

                    /Section/PageTitle.html

But be sure to leave the Source dropdown menu blank.

                  • Next, decide whether or not you want this link to open a new browser window or simply redirect the user within the active window.
                    • To open this link in a new window, select the Target dropdown menu and choose Blank.

                    • To redirect the user to this URL within the active window, select Self.

                    • Click insert, followed by ok to finalize and close the popup window.

                5. After removing the highlighting from your text by clicking anywhere within the content editing pane, your new hyperlink should look something like this:

Before finishing the process, be sure to click the Save button. If you fail to Save before exiting your changes will be lost.

Congratulations on having successfully hyperlinked text on your webpage. Proceed on to learn how to hyperlink images!

                  To hyperlink an image:
                    • In the content editing pane, click the image you wish to hyperlink. If properly selected, the image should show a set of eight white boxes surrounding it.

                    • Once selected, simply repeat steps b-d of the above hyperlinking process.

                    • Before finishing the process, be sure to click the Save button. If you fail to Save before exiting your changes will be lost.

So that’s all it takes to hyperlink text and images on your web page. We hope this tutorial was clear and easy enough to help you accomplish your hyperlinking goals. If you have additional questions, please direct them to sales@cascadewebdev.com.
